Quinnipiac Visual Effects Production Class

by Paul Taglianetti MS, BS

This past August, I began teaching a production class at Quinnipiac College in Hamden, CT called Introduction To Visual Effects. The students  in my class were Undergraduates in their last few semesters at college. Most were communications majors with substantial experience in media production although many were learning about visual effects production for the first time. My methodology for the class was to give the students context and perspective through history lectures, viewing clips and presentations. This was balanced with studio time where we practice photography with green screens and practicing compositing techniques in after effects.

Enclosed are stills from some of their work. I was extremely impressed with the progress they made. Their final was a presentation of a final film which incorporated what they learned in the semester.
